Resistance Band Gymnasium at Bredasdorp Primary

Bredasdorp Primary is fortunate to have access to a dedicated resistance band gymnasium, a valuable facility that has become an important part of our school’s sporting development programme.

This outstanding initiative was made possible through the generous support and sponsorship of local businesses, parents, and members of the wider Bredasdorp community. Their contribution has provided our learners with a unique opportunity to benefit from a training system that enhances both athletic performance and overall physical development.

Our sports teams across all codes benefit tremendously from the resistance band gymnasium. Learners who attend regular training sessions show noticeable improvements in strength, speed, conditioning, and overall athletic performance. While the advantages for physically demanding sports such as rugby were evident from the outset, we have also seen significant benefits across a wide range of sporting disciplines, including netball, athletics, cricket, hockey, and biathlon.

One of the most visible improvements has been in the explosiveness and acceleration of learners off the mark, an attribute that is crucial in many sporting environments. This has translated into improved movement, agility, and confidence during training and competition.

In addition to its sporting value, the resistance band system also offers broader developmental benefits. When used correctly and consistently, it provides highly active learners with a positive outlet for excess energy.
